Steve SonntagSteve Sonntag has performed with a wide variety of artists including singers Nancy Wilson, Kevin  Mahogany, Helen O’Connell and Bobby Rydell, entertainers Carol Channing, Jim Nabors and Florence Henderson and Rock/Pop/Soul legends Levon Helm, The Coasters and The Temptations. He has worked with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra, toured with Guy Lombardo’s Royal Canadians and was a staff musician aboard the cruise ship SS Norway. He was a long time member of Dave Sporny’s Amherst Jazz Orchestra and the Jeff Holmes Big Band, performing with Peter Erskine, Ernie Watts, John Abercrombie, Rufus Reid, David ‘Fathead’ Newman, John Fedchock, Conrad    Herwig and Yusef Lateef.

He is an active trumpeter and can be heard on recordings by many New England based groups. He can also be heard with his own quintet on a recording titled ‘Not A Day Goes By’. He works with the Peter Miles Band and with a jazz quartet called ‘Rubes with a View’. He is a member of the Vermont Jazz Center Big Band and has published two books – a collection of jazz etudes and duets titled ‘Tune-in and Tone-up – A Jazz Workout’ (2013), and a book of jazzy finger studies titled ‘Trumpet Fingers’ (2015).

He taught at the University of Massachusetts and at Westfield State University.
